A luxe method of personalization

Capture a moment in time that lasts forever with engraving or etching. This is a permanent way of capturing your guest’s name, monogram, or heartfelt phrase, making their keepsake all that more special and meaningful.

A quiet and portable microdrill is used to create a custom engraved design. Glass is a medium that lends itself perfectly for engraving and some types of metals work well, too. Engraved designs can be finished with gold or silver to fit the overall aesthetic.

Wine and liquor bottles, makeup palettes and compacts, fragrance bottles, candle jars, and stainless steel water bottles, are just a few ideas of items that can be custom engraved.

frequently asked questions

1. What is engraving and how does it work?

Engraving is the process of carving out a design on a hard surface such as glass. Based on your desired end result, I freehand a design in my signature calligraphy style using a small hand-held engraver.

While engraving, a fine dust is produced and is carefully dusted off the surface. As such, I wear protective glasses and a mask for safety reasons. The product itself will be free of any debris.

The engraved design can then be filled with a metallic wax (gold, silver, or black) to align with the overall aesthetic. This works best for smooth surfaces on products that are to be used for decorative purposes only and not for glassware that will be used heavily and need to be washed.

The design will be permanently etched into the surface creating a luxurious memento of the experience or occasion to be remembered.

2. What kind of equipment do you use and how loud is it?

A micro motor drill, which is portable and takes up very little space, is used for engraving which makes it perfect for on site brand activations or other special events. During engraving some noise is created but it is easily drowned out by ambient noise.

3. Which surfaces are best and which should be avoided?

Generally, a smooth, hard surface works best for engraving. This includes glass, mirror compacts, and some types of metals. Frosted or textured surfaces, and carbonated products such as champagne, should not be engraved. If you're unsure if engraving will work for you, I would be happy to discuss your options.

Note that adding a metallic wax should be avoided on any glassware that will be frequently used and washed.

4. How soon can I receive an engraved product?

When engraving live on-site, products can be taken home on the spot, typically within a few minutes, depending on the complexity of the design. For custom commissions, timing will depend on your specific project.
